Douglas "Duke" Lynn Vaughn was born April 9, 1951, in Winnsboro, Texas, to the late Dud Vaughn and Ruby Palmer.
Duke was also blessed with a large family of six brothers and seven sisters. He is proceeded in death by his son Henry Linc Vaughn Duke, passed away June 21, 2026, at the age of 75, surrounded by his family in his home.
Duke is survived by his beloved wife, of 57 years Rita Kay Vaughn, and his son James D Vaughn; daughter Julie Vaughn Onley; daughter Elizabeth Steele and husband, Billy Steele; son Joshua Vaughn and his wife Maegan Vaughn. He had nine grandchildren Harley Onley, Draven Onley, Axl Vaughn, Daysie Vaughn, Cassie Burch, Chandler Steele, Colt Wilkins, Molly Tinney, Jesse Vaughn, and three great grandchildren, Hudson Burch, Reina Onley, and Saylor Tinney.
He was a proud, father and pawpaw nothing brought him more greater joy than spending time with his family, and watching future generations grow throughout his life he was known for his strong work ethic, loyalty, and dedication to both his family and his profession as a House mover and leveler for 45 Years, Duke took pride in his work and earned the respect of those who knew him through his honesty, skill and determination.
When Duke was not working, he loved to go to church. He was a member of the Coldwater Baptist Church and love to fellowship with his church family. Duke's favorite hobby was fishing and everybody knew him for the giant catfish that he caught every spring
Those who knew Duke will remember him as a hard-working man whose loyalty never wavered. His dedication to his family was evident in everything he did. His legacy of love, provision, preservation, and commitment to God will live in the hearts of all who knew him and loved him.
