Edward Franklin Vaughan of Quitman, Texas, passed away on August 25, 2026. Edward was completely devoted to his family and his beloved wife of 70 years, Amelia. Edward spent his life taking care of his wife, and when she passed away just four weeks ago, he simply could not live without her.
Born on April 14, 1936, in Lamar County, Texas, Edward was a warm-hearted man known for his sharp wit, unending kindness, and great sense of humor. He found joy in gardening, hunting, and woodworking, and was a dedicated Master Mason for over 65 years.
Edward is survived by daughter Carla DiMarco, sons Larry Vaughan (and wife Mary) and Edward Vaughan (and wife Robbie), 12 precious grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. Edward and Amelia also leave behind their long-time dear friend Peggy Douglas.
Edward was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Amelia Ann Hignight, parents James Robert Vaughan and Emma Elizabeth Stevenson (and husband Leo), sister Sandra Pate, and brothers Grady, Bobby, and Jimmy Vaughan.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on August 27, 2026, at the Beaty Funeral Home Chapel in Mineola. Edward will be laid to rest privately in the Quitman City Cemetery. He will be missed deeply and remembered fondly by all who knew him.
