Edwin Hand

March 30, 1927 — October 14, 2015

Our beloved husband, father and “Granddaddy”, Edwin Hand (88), entered into his eternal rest with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, October 14, 2015. Previously from Bonham and Euless, he and his precious wife, Jeri, spent this past year living on Lake Winnsboro to be close to their family. His family and friends were everything to him and there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for them. As a true outdoorsman, he loved fishing at Lake Texoma, treating children and first-time fishermen to his stocked pools, and gardening.

He was born in Hazlehurst, Georgia, on March 30, 1927. He married the love of his life, Geraldine “Jeri” Dorsey on August 9, 1945, and they had just celebrated their 70th anniversary. He served honorably in the United States Air Force for 20 years. He was a veteran of WWII, the Korean War and Vietnam, and he retired as a Tech. Sgt. After his military retirement, he also retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Euless, Texas, after 16 years of service. He built his retirement home (The Goat Ranch) in Bonham, Texas, where he absolutely loved his 24 years of country living and he enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels for 5 years.

He is preceded in death by his father, Arthur Hand, and his mother, Cora Lee Walls Hand, both of Douglas, GA, two sisters and a great grandson. He is survived by his wife, Jeri Hand, son David Hand of Euless, TX, daughter Ann and husband Wes Eggleston of Winnsboro, TX, grandson Wesley C. “Hairy” and wife Elizabeth Eggleston of Winnsboro, TX, granddaughter Shea and husband Craig Thompson of Lockhart, TX, and two great grandsons, Charlie Eggleston and Kevin Thompson.

Thank you so much for your prayers and support during this time. No services are planned for this area. Any memorials can be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
