Obituary for Edwin Eugene "Gene" Rose

Edwin Eugene "Gene" Rose, 92, of Pickton, Texas, passed away on March 27, 2025. He was born on January 2, 1933, in Pickton, Texas, to Edwin E. Rose and Alma B. Pugh Rose. Gene grew up in Pickton and graduated from Pickton High School.

Gene proudly served his country in the National Guard before joining the Army as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. After his military service, he worked in the dairy business and as an equipment operator for Texas Utilities Coal Mine until his retirement . He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Pickton and found great joy in spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On June 11, 1976, Gene married the love of his life, Wanda Joy Suiter, with whom he shared many wonderful years.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Joy Rose; son, Roger Rose and his wife, Roberta; daughter, Jennifer Rock; stepdaughters, Krista Peterson and her husband, Maurice, and Shannon Brewer; brother, Troy Rose; sister, Faye Holcomb; as well as grandchildren, Kelby Galloway, Sara Rose, Brady Rose, Cassidy Rose, Katie Kinworthy, Amanda Sharber, and Brinley Rock; great-grandchildren, Kyler Kinworthy, Sailee Kinworthy, and Liam Sharber along with other extended family, and friends.

Gene was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Rose and Carl Wayne Rose and son-in-law, Bo Brewer.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
