Eldon Curtis Armstrong, age 85, of Mineola, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2024, at a Tyler hospital, with his family by his side.
Born on June 13, 1939, in Point, Texas, Eldon was the son of the late Curtis D. and Mary Nann (Horton) Armstrong. He graduated from Point High School before going on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, California.
Eldon devoted much of his professional life to public service and entrepreneurship. He worked for the California Department of Corrections for 12 years before returning to Texas, where he continued his career with the Texas Department of Corrections for an additional 3 years. Afterward, Eldon pursued his passion for business, running his own construction company and eventually founding Mineola Traders, where he worked for the past 35 years. His dedication to his work and community made a lasting impact, and he will be fondly remembered by all who knew him

He was a member of Harvest Acres Baptist Church, Eldon found great joy in his faith and the fellowship of his church family. Outside of work, Eldon had a deep love for animals and enjoyed spending time caring for them.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Curtis Lee Armstrong. He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Shirley Johnson Armstrong; son Jack Armstrong; brothers Randall Dale Armstrong (Sharon) and Darryl L. Armstrong (Linda); sister-in-law Terry Smith; brother-in-law Joe Smith; grandchildren Timothy, Kelly, Katherine, and Jacob; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Eldon’s family and friends will remember him as a man of integrity, hard work, and compassion. His kindness, sense of humor, and love for his family will be missed by all who were blessed to know him.
