Elizabeth Duncan Jones


Elizabeth was born November 6, 1936 in Mineola, Wood County, Texas. She passed away on January 17, 2021 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Jerry Max Jones and parents Frances Doyle and Randolf Duncan.


She is survived by her children Susan Holliman and husband, Jim and Chris Jones and wife, Reyna. Her sisters Lucy Holt, Palestine, Betty Smith, Tyler, Sherry Joiner, Mineola, Kathy Duncan, Mineola, Carol and husband, Pat Rowen of Van; brothers, Jimmie Duncan and wife Christa of Pheonix amd Ronald Duncan and wife Sandra of Garland; grandchildren Anna Rodriguez, Joshua Vollette, Jacob Vollette, Daniel Holliman, Jonath Walker and Steven Walker.


Elizabeth was Valedictorian of the Mineola Class of 1955. That same year she was chosen as Watermelon Queen. Elizabeth was active in the Methodist Church in Mineola.


On August 1st, 1959, she married Jerry. After her marriage, they joined the Presbyterian Church. She went on to be a Deacon at the First Presbyterian Church in Longview. She helped Jerry run a business, putting her secretarial skills to use. She was also a member Prelude, the Longview Symphony Orchestra Support group. Her death was not COVID-19 related.

Graveside Service is 1:00 pm, Saturday, the 23rd of January, 2021 at Cedar Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Faulk Landrum officiating.
