Mary Elizabeth Scott was born in the Forest Home Community, west of Winnsboro, to Johnnie Herman McElyea and Olga Beard McElyea on October 26, 1925 of Wood County.
Elizabeth attended Baylor University and North Texas State Teachers College before marrying Thomas Scott, her childhood sweetheart. She completed her bachelor's degree at Stephen F. Austin State University while raising her two children. After serving as secretary to the business manager at SFASU for seven years, she began her teaching career and moved her way up from a fourth grade teacher to a principal. In 1978, after her children left home, she and Thomas moved to Winnsboro where she became principal at the Westbrook Elementary School. She was instrumental in the planning stages of the Winnsboro Elementary School building. She completed her teaching career and retired in 1983.
In her early years she enjoyed crafts, summer vacations with her family, and working with Thomas refinishing furniture.
In her later years, she and Thomas loved traveling in their motor home. She especially enjoyed taking her two grandchildren along with them during their during their summer break.
Upon arriving in Winnsboro, she and Thomas joined First Baptist Church and truly loved being an active part of the church family.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Thomas Scott and mother and father Olga and Johnnie McElyea of Winnsboro, Texas.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Wayne and Carla Scott of Winnsboro, daughter and son-in-law Linda and Paul Lam , grandson and granddaughter Owen Lam and Amanda Wolff, her husband Jud Wolff and great- granddaughter Addison Elizabeth Wolff all of Gatesville, Texas. She is also survived by grandsons Adam Holland and wife Maricella of Hughes Springs, Austin Holland and wife Lacie of Sulphur Springs, and Justin Holland and wife Jennifer of Sulphur Springs and great-grandsons Aiden, Caden, and Jordan Holland.
She considered herself blessed with a loving and supportive family and her family considered her a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her family and friends and any little kids that passed by.
