Ervin Paul Messimer

Ervin Paul Messimer, 86 years old of Palmer, NE died Saturday, May 24, 2008. He was born on April 1, 1922 in Winnsboro to the late Joseph H. and Nora Johnson Messimer. He served in United States Army from 1940 to 1945 during WWII in North Africa and Italy. He married Billie Frances Mitchell on April 20, 1946. They made their home in Winnsboro, where he worked in the oil fields and later went into contracting and home building. Then they moved to Colorado where they raised their family. Upon retiring they moved back to Winnsboro. Due to Paul's health they moved to Nebraska in 2005 to be near their daughters. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winnsboro, and the Masonic Scottish Rite. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and took tremendous pride in his work. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Billie Messimer of Palmer, NE.; daughters and sons-in-law, Janey and George Rutten of Palmer, NE., Sandy and Terry Prante of Grant, NE.; one sister, Jean Baber of Duncanville; seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
