Everett Charles Dunahoe

Everett Dunahoe 81, of Mineola, TX died on September 7, 2015 in Lindale, TX. Visitation will be held at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola, TX on Friday, September 11, 2015 from 6-8 pm. Funeral services are set for 10 am on Saturday, September 12, 2015, at Beaty Funeral Home Chapel, Mineola, with Gordon Dunahoe officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Mineola. Mr. Dunahoe was born in Crow, Texas on May 20, 1934 to the late Charlie Everett and Cleo Bell Dunahoe.

He graduated from Hawkins ISD, worked for the Cotton Belt Railroad & served in the Pacific Fleet in the US Navy before returning home to purchase the family farm. It was in 1978, during his time as a rural mail carrier, that Mr. Dunahoe began selling insurance for Woodman of the World & Hochhiem Prairie Farm Mutual. In 1981, Mr. Dunahoe opened Dunahoe Insurance Agency in Mineola, going on to serve terms on the Board of Directors & as President of the Board of Hochhiem Prairie Farm Mutual. Mr. Dunahoe was a fixture in Mineola with his morning walks to the donut shop down the street from the Agency, his daily lunches at Kitchen’s Hardware & Deli & his daily office errands to the Post Office & local banks. In the office, visitors & agents were regaled daily with ‘Navy Stories’, weekly invitations to join the Blue Monday Band for practice at the office on Monday nights & often treated to a rendition of ‘Corina, Corina’, ‘Billy Billy Bayou’ or many others. Mr. Dunahoe was a founding member of Mineola Church of Christ.

Mr. Dunahoe is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nell Dunahoe, two children David Dunahoe and wife Mary of Whitehouse, TX & Kim Dunahoe-Waxler and husband Gary of Mineola, TX, nine grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, along with cousins, nieces, nephews & friends galore.
