Ray Lambert, a beloved member of the Winnsboro community, passed away on April 4, 2024, at a Plano facility. He was 78 years old. Born on September 6, 1945, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to Delmar Floyd Lambert and Ina Mae (Hollingsworth) Lambert, Ray lived a life marked by service, dedication, and love. After relocating to Winnsboro from Mesquite, Texas, Ray became an integral part of the community for over two decades. Ray was a devout member of Pine Street Baptist Church, where his faith guided his actions and interactions with others. Throughout his life, he embarked on various career paths, each reflecting his commitment to serving others. He worked tirelessly as a farmer for over 20 years, nurturing the land and contributing to the agricultural industry. His sense of duty led him to serve as a deputy in Mississippi before he pursued further education. Driven by his desire to help and heal, Ray returned to college, earning his nursing degree from El Centro College in Dallas. He dedicated the latter part of his career to caring for others as a registered nurse, touching countless lives with his compassion and expertise. Outside of his professional pursuits, Ray found solace and joy in simple pleasures. He cherished moments spent fishing and tending to his land, often found atop his beloved John Deere tractor, meticulously maintaining the pastures around his home. Ray's greatest role, however, was that of a devoted husband and caregiver. He lovingly cared for his wife throughout her illnesses, demonstrating unwavering devotion and selflessness until his own health declined. Ray leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and resilience. He is preceded in death by his parents, Delmar and Ina Mae Lambert, and leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory. He is survived by his wife of 29 ½ years Brenda McCann Lambert, sons Brian Ray Lambert and Hank Thornton (Lori), daughters Cynthia Hitchcox, Christina Thomas fiancé' Ace Cordell, and Laura Lambert, brothers Jeff Lambert (Diane) and Ronnie Lambert, sister Faye Stewart (Randy), nine grandchildren, Derrick Lambert, Sean Hitchcox, Blake Lambert, Christina Flores, Ashton McCulloch, Corey Thornton, Hunter Thornton, and Tyler Thornton, as well as numerous great-grandchildren. In the hearts of those who knew him, Ray will be remembered for his kindness, strength, and unwavering commitment to his loved ones and his community. He loved the Lord and stood strong in his faith. Though he may be gone, his spirit will live on in the lives he touched and the memories he leaves behind.
