Frances Lou Hudson

June 11, 1935 — February 19, 2025

Frances Lou Hudson, age 89, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2025. Born to Ruby Hutchins Herring on June 11, 1935, in Denton, Texas, Frances's life was filled with love, creativity, and service to others.

Frances spent her early years attending grade school in Dallas, Texas, and Leavenworth, Washington. She graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1952. On February 21, 1953, she married the love of her life, Marvin Dee Hudson. They shared 62 wonderful years together before his passing on March 18, 2015.

A talented seamstress, Frances lovingly created dresses and school uniforms for her three daughters and others in the community. Later, she became a part owner of Precious People Day Care with her dear friends, Suzette Russom and Norma Clements. Frances generously volunteered her time at the North East Texas Child Advocacy Center and Whispering Pines. Children were truly the love of her life.

Frances and Marvin were members of Walnut Street Baptist Church, where she was later baptized and renewed her faith in Christ. Together, they enjoyed many shared passions, including dancing, arrowhead hunting, and crafting. In her later years, Frances was also an avid gardener and was once featured in the Winnsboro paper for growing a perfect pineapple from the top of a store-bought pineapple.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Dee Hudson; her son, Marvin Dee Hudson Jr.; her grandson, Justin Dee Hudson; her brothers, Buford Herring and Billy Ray Herring; her sisters, Ruby Marie Holt, Mary Jane Herring, Olivia Hogan, Ola Wanda Graves, Elsie Grace Stoudt, and Doris Louis Perillo; and her son-in-law, Glen Ray Swaner.

She is survived by her daughters, Debra Eyvonne Swaner of Winnsboro, Texas, Marsha Ann Hudson of Alvin, Texas, and Vivian (Vicki) Sue Hudson and husband, William Childress, of Old Saybrook, Connecticut; and her granddaughter, Genevieve Elizabeth Gilbert Janak and husband, Stephen Janak, of Sheridan, Texas.

Frances's gracious soul and kindred spirit never diminished, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
