Frances Paralee Webb, age 86, of Scroggins, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 13, 1938, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, to a farming family. She would tell stories of picking cotton by hand. Later the family moved to Bakersfield, CA where the family continued as farmers.
Frances had 5 younger siblings that she helped care for - and oh did those boys get in trouble! She graduated high school and married moving this time to New Mexico, once again farming.
On the farm in New Mexico her garden was one of the biggest responsibilities. Her daughter Peggy would say "I know it wasn't, at least I think it wasn't, but to a little kid it seemed like 5 acres. We picked, snapped, shelled, and then canned. She passed this art on to us." There was a trade system on the farm. Neighbors would exchange butter and cheese according to who had the best.
Frances made all of her children's clothes. She made the western shirts for the guys and all of the clothes for the girls. Her daughters rarely had jeans and when they became too short she just sewed material to the bottom and made it a new fashion statement.
Her mother taught her how to quilt and crochet. They made beautiful afghans and even in Frances decline she still crocheted pot holders as gifts.
Frances spent her life serving her faith and her Lord with love and dedication. She had her family attending church from the womb. She loved teaching the children and working in Vacation Bible Schools. She was a faithful member of Clearwater Baptist Church at the time of her death.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Lottie Howell; her beloved daughter, Leona Joyce Webb; and her brothers, George, Troy, Bobby, Johnny, and Carl. She was also preceded by her sister, Grace.
She is survived by her son, Franklin Webb and his wife Debra of Scroggins; her daughter, Peggy Webb of Scroggins; her brother, Jimmy Howell of Germany; and her sister, Susie Lutzker of Oklahoma. Frances leaves behind a cherished legacy of love and devotion to her family, including seven grandchildren: Brandon Webb, Arien Thornbrue (Joe), Jimmy Bradfield (Tracie), Renee Morgan (Robert), Rachel Reed, Benjamin Reed (Brittney), and Timothy Reed. She also leaves 14 great-grandchildren who were her pride and joy.
Frances' life was a testament to the power of family, faith, and love. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
