Franklin Alan Spencer, Jr, 77 of Winnsboro, Texas, died December 20, 2021, at his home.

Alan was born December 6, 1944, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Franklin Alan Spencer, Sr and Jeane Bushman.

He graduated from Quincy High School in Washington. After graduation, he served a mission in Finland for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Upon returning, he joined the military and served in the US Army for 8-1/2 years where he served in both Vietnam and Korea. During this time, he married Vera Jean Christensen and they celebrated 48 years of marriage in June 2021.
He continued his education and ultimately received a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from UT Tyler. He is retired from Nestle Waters (Ozarka). Alan was a loyal member of the American Legion.
He enjoyed playing cards, going to bingo, and indexing. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Vera Jean Spencer; children and their spouses, Jan Means (Dennis), Shelly Shaw (Paul), Sean Spencer (Shontel), Deron Spencer (Ashley), and Kimberly Stoddard (Ryan); siblings and their spouses, Michael Jeane Hansen (Veral), Namoe Lynes, John Spencer (Peggy), Caroline Boster (Tracy), Aaron Spencer (Angelina), Rebecca Tanner (Robert), and Nephi Spencer (Janine); many nieces and nephews, thirteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Franklin and Jeane Spencer, and brother, Danny Spencer.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 27, 2021 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Beaty Funeral Home-Winnsboro 816 W. Broadway Winnsboro, TX 75494. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Beaty Funeral Home at 10:00 am, Bishopric Rodney Kimmons conducting, interment will follow at Kelsey Cemetery in Gilmer.
