Freddie Joe Simonek, 74, of Mineola, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2025. He was born on April 14, 1950, in Mineola, Texas, to Edward and Mary (Fleischmann) Simonek. Freddie grew up in Mineola, where he developed a deep connection to family, faith, and the outdoors.
Freddie married the love of his life, Peggy Sutton, on February 1, 1974. They built a life together filled with love, hard work, and cherished memories. Freddie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather,
brother, and uncle who left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. Freddie worked as a skilled millwright and carpenter, where his craftsmanship and attention to detail were unmatched. He was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, where his faith remained a guiding force throughout his life. He had a passion for hunting and fishing, finding peace and joy in the outdoors. Freddie also loved working on cars — his red Dodge 2500 4WD was his pride and joy.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy; his parents, Edward and Mary Simonek;
and his brothers, Tommy and Eddie.
Freddie is survived by his sons, Christopher and Joseph; his grandchildren, Dalton, Bailey, Emma, and Waylon; and his great-grandchildren, Augustus and Kip. He is also survived by his sisters, Theresa, Mary and her husband Delbert, and Jane and her husband Doug; as well as many loved nieces and nephews.
Freddie was also blessed to have had a special bond with his Auntie, who held a cherished place in his heart.
Freddie will be remembered for his steady presence, his hard working spirit, and the love he gave so freely to his family and friends. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in eternal peace.
