Freeman Leroy Rue

Freeman Leroy Rue, 79, of Mineola, TX died on Thursday, January 9, 2014. He was born on October 13, 1934 in Topeka, KS to the late Robert Rue Sr. and Lucinda Jane Rue.

Freeman served his country in the United States Navy. He was a firefighter/instructor with the City of Hurst Fire Department for thirty years before retiring to Mineola. He still had the bug and served with the City of Mineola Fire Department for another nine years before retirement. Freeman was a man of solid faith and put his trust in the Lord in his twenties and was a faithful servant all his life. “He has run the good race and he fought the good fight.”- 2 Timothy

He is preceded in death by three brothers, Lewis Rue, Marion Robert Rue Jr., and James Gilbert Rue.

He is survived by his wife Shirley Ann Reed-Rue of Mineola; daughters, Jane Marie Strawn and husband Curtis of Justin, TX, Cecilia Ann Mullins and husband Scot of Bridgeport, TX, Laura Lee Caldwell and husband Kevin of St. Charles, IL; stepdaughters, Kathie Shanks and husband JT of Hawkins, TX, Lori Shipman and husband Jim of Alba, TX, Stacey Black and husband Kirk of Parker, CO; sister, Cleo Crenshaw. He leaves a legacy of ten grandchildren, two great grandsons and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mr. Rue will be from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Monday, January 13, 2014 at Beaty Funeral Home, Mineola TX.

Funeral service will follow visitation at 11:00 AM officiated by Rev. David Burcham and Rev. Jim Pickens.
