Gene Tunney Coones

Gene Tunney Coones of Golden, Texas joined his wife Fern and other loved ones in heaven on June 6, 2020. Mr. Coones was born to the late Joseph and Dollie Coones on August 4, 1928 in Ranger, Texas. Gene was a simple no fuss kind of man. He would insist on paying for his grown childrens meals if they were to eat out. He didn't want to be a bother to no one and and was independent to the very end. Gene was the last of 11 children. Mr. Coones was preceded in death by his wife Edith (Fern) Coones in June 2016. He is survived by his son Robert Coones and wife Cindy; son David Coones and wife Gladys; daughter Peggy (Crickett) Scott; 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 10th at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. The graveside service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Golden City Cemetery. Bro.
