Gene P. Dykes

Mr. Gene P. Dykes, age 70 of Center, passed away on Monday, January 21. 2013 in Center. He was born on April 16, 1942 in Winnsboro to the late Glen C. Dykes and Dolly J. Banks Dykes. He was a Major in the U.S. Army and served two tours in the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by the mother of his sons, L. Ruth Dykes of Mt. Vernon; sons, Gene P. Dykes II and wife Glenetta of Cypress, Dwight W. Dykes and wife Gianna of Dallas; sisters, Mary A. Taylor and husband Joe of Overton, Karen K. Campbell of Zavalla; brother, Joe G. Dykes and wife Lanell of Center; step-mother, Frances Dykes of Tyler; five grandchildren, Ryan, Hope, Grace, Camille, and Benjamin Dykes. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 12:30 PM at Smyrna Cemetery in Wood County. Viewing for family and friends will held from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM on Thursday at Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro prior to the graveside services.
