George Isaac "Ike" La Rue
August 3, 1946 - December 16, 2025
George Isaac La Rue, known to all who knew him as "Ike," left this world for the next one after a brief illness. A husband, father, and Vietnam Veteran, he was loved and respected by all. He was 79.
Ike was born in Rome, New York, and spent most of his youth in California, where he graduated from Richmond Union High School in 1964. He served his country in the United States Army from 1966-1968 in Vietnam. Upon his return, he met the love of his life, Sylvia. Decisive as always, Ike proposed, and within a month, he and Sylvia began their 57-year marriage together, most of it in East Texas.
Professionally, Ike had a forty-year career in the natural gas industry. He was an avid bowler and golfer. He played softball, basketball, and tennis, and coached Little League baseball and soccer. He collected glass bottles and coins, enjoyed restoring antique trucks, and loved the thrill of riding dirtbikes.
Ike is preceded in death by his parents, William La Rue and Dorothy Premo La Rue; his brother, James La Rue; and his sister, Nancy Remillard.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; his daughter, Christie McBride and her husband Jon; his son, Dr. Colin Blake La Rue and his wife, Alisa; his sister, April La Rue; his brother, Ronald La Rue; his grandchildren, Catherine McBride, Caleb La Rue, Seth La Rue, Grace LaRue, Reese Emmons, and Kara Emmons; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
