George Richard Turner

George Richard Turner, age 83, died on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 in Tyler, Texas. He was born on Tuesday, September 27, 1927 in Hainsville, Texas to the late Clifton and Lona Turner. He served in the United States Army during WWII. He retired from United Gas Pipeline in 1972. He was the owner of Turner Mobil Station from 1972 until 1978 and a volunteer fireman in Mineola, Texas for over twenty years.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Ida Marie Turner.

He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Lee; a son, Steve Turner and wife Gail; his wife of 9 years, Pauline Jones Turner, and her children Beverly Watley and husband Jim, Brenda Taylor and Sammy Jones; a brother in law, Don Payne; fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Mineola Volunteer Fire Department.
