Gerald "Jerry" Dykes, age 86 of Winnsboro, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2014 in Winnsboro. Jerry was born in Winnsboro on June 5, 1927 to the late Malcolm and Nellie Winchester Dykes. Jerry was a professional musician and a Baptist. He started playing a guitar when he was 15 years old and played for the next 71 years. Jerry traveled all over the U.S. playing in many bands and later with the Foggy River Boys starting in 1988. For many years he had his own band in Las Vegas and opened for and accompanied many of the biggest stars in the country. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy Walker Dykes; daughter, Pamela Fenchel; sisters, Lula Mae Albright, Carrie King, Lorena Green, Lillie Bell McMullen; brothers, Curtis Dykes, and James Weldon Dykes. He is survived by four daughters, Linda Anderson and husband Bob of Las Vegas, NV., Debbie Trinchini and husband Bill of Big Bear, CA., Delsey Smith of Las Vegas, NV., Jerri Schlivka and husband Leo of Las Vegas, NV.; brother, Olan Dykes and wife Juanita of Winnsboro; sister, Mable Mayo of Winnsboro; one grandchild, and seven great-grandchildren.
