Gerald Ward Shirey

Mineola - Memorial services for Gerald W. Shirey are to be held Thursday at 2:00 PM at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola.

Col. Shirey died May 26, 2008 in Quitman.

He was born April 28, 1920 in Alba. His parents were John H. Shirey and Edith Vandiver Shirey. He served as a B-26 pilot in World War II and retired from the United States Air Force.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Ben Shirey.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Sanders Shirey, Mineola; daughters, Sherry Shirey, Houston, Sandra Shirey, Houston and Suzan Shirey, Mineola. He is also survived by a sister, Ann Morscheck, Mineola; brother, John Shirey, Rockwall; two grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
