Gladys Irene Cadenhead Gott, was born in Proctor, Texas on Sunday, August 29, 1915, the youngest child of Rosa Dallas and James Clanton Cadenhead. She grew up in the country with her two brothers and three sisters. She married Charlie Gott in Erick, Oklahoma on November 26, 1932 and remained his bride of 63 years.
Gladys was a happy homemaker, one who enjoyed cooking and sewing for her husband, three children and her only granddaughter. She worked for Hemphill Wells in the gift wrapping department and did testing for the Cotton Co-op in Lubbock. She was a dedicated Christian and kept her children in church and taught them by example to love and serve the Lord.
Charlie and Gladys moved to Paradise, Texas in 1978 to be close to their son and his family. Charlie passed away May 26, 1996 and Gladys moved to Mineola, Texas in October 1997. She spent the last years of her life at Wood Memorial Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, two brothers, her husband, a son-in-law and a granddaughter-in-law. She is survived by her children; Betty Leming, Earlene and Gary Brown, and Butch and Sue Gott, all of Mineola, Texas; five grandsons; one granddaughter; three great-granddaughters; four great-grandsons; several nieces and nephews; and many good friends.
Visitation for Ms. Gott will be at Beaty Funeral Home on Sunday, July 21, 2013 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
Funeral services will be at Beaty Funeral Home on Monday, July 22, 2013 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Van Christian officiating.
Interment will be at Paradise Cemetery in Wise County at 3:30 PM
