Mr. Henry Allen Spiva, age 75, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at his home in Winnsboro, with family at his side. He was born in Kaufman County on July 14, 1936 to the late Sam and Nancy Loraine Gay Spiva. He was retired from the General Electric Company; ordained as a deacon in 1967 at Kempsville Baptist Church in Virginia, was a member, active deacon, and in the Men's Ministry at First Baptist Church of Winnsboro. He was also a 32 degree mason, served on the Future Foundation Committee of Winnsboro, a director for CNB, served with the Texas Baptist Church Builders, and helped begin the Northeast Texas Music Festival. He was preceded in death by four brothers. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Reba LaRue Spiva of Winnsboro; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Holly Spiva of Vega, Tx.; daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Blake Cooper of Commerce, Tx., Monica and Glen Calvert of Mt. Pleasant, Tx.; three sisters, Wilma Hickson of Dallas, Barbara Sutherland and husband Budd of Bonham, Clara Ratliff and husband Wes of Abilene; grandchildren, Cody and Samantha Spiva of Vega, Wesley and Kelsey Cooper of Commerce, Clint Spiva of Vega, Robert Cooper of Lubbock, Amanda Calvert of Mt. Pleasant, Rebekah Cooper of Commerce, Christine Calvert of Mt. Pleasant; one great-grandson, Hagen Allen Spiva of Vega, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 8, 2011, at Beaty Funeral Home , 816 W. Broadway, Winnsboro, Texas. Services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, September 9, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Winnsboro, with Dr. David Rose, Rev. Steve Cochran, and John McAuley officiating. Interment will follow at Little Hope Cemetery, Wood County, TX. Memorial contributions may be sent to Legacy Hospice of Sulphur Springs
or the Mens Ministry at FBC of Winnsboro.
