Herman Lee Holmes

Herman Lee Holmes, age 85, of Winnsboro, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2024. He was born on January 22, 1939, in Winnsboro to Clyde Woodrow Holmes and Rebecca Marie Barber Holmes.

Herman spent his childhood in Winnsboro, where he was well-known and loved by the community. He was a faithful member of the Winnsboro Church of Christ throughout his life, finding peace and solace in his faith.

After the passing of his brother, Carl, Herman took over delivering copies of the Winnsboro News to local businesses, a responsibility he carried out in a unique way—on the family’s lawn mower. It was an endearing story that brought a smile to many faces and showcased his sense of humor and practicality.

Herman is survived by his brother, Troy Holmes, of Winnsboro. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Rebecca Holmes; his brother, Carl Holmes; and his sisters, Betty Holmes and Mary Fulmer.
