Hollis Joe Coston

Hollis Joe Coston, age 86, of Winnsboro, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2012. He was born on December 30, 1925 in Winnsboro, Texas. He served in World War II in the European Theater, where he received a Bronze Star. He was a great patriot. He was instrumental in developing the Veterans Memorial area in the Pineview Cemetery. He constantly flew the American and Texas State Flags at his home in Pineview. He was also a past member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Winnsboro.

After having several occupations including, taxi driver, carpenter, TV repairman, he went to work for Ford Motor Company where he retired after 21 years as a Master Electrician. Hollis moved back to Winnsboro after his retirement from Ford and began a life of farming and raising a menagerie of animals. He was a longtime member of the Pineview Baptist Church and past president of Pineview Cemetery Association. He is preceded in death by his wife Jimmie Ruth Patterson Coston; one son Tommy Lee Coston; his parents, George and Ruby Bass Coston; three brothers, Wetzel Coston, Wilbert Coston and George Ray Coston. He is survived by two daughters, Betty Mabry and husband Edward of Winnsboro; Nancy McKethan and husband Danny of Mineola; and one son Bobby Coston of Winnsboro; two sisters Delores Bane of Greenville and Yvonne Swann and husband Arvel of Winnsboro; five grandsons, Tim Mabry, Brian McKethan, Matt Mabry, Keith McKethan and Beau Coston and four great-granddaughters Danie, Darcie, Payton & Kate.
