Hope Ann Harmon Mink was born September 11, 1952, in Litchfield, Minnesota, to John and Dorothy Harmon. She graduated from Litchfield High School in 1970, where she was student body secretary, and voted prettiest girl, and most lady-like in her class. She attended Boise State University from 1970-73, majoring in art and minoring in music. There she met and married her husband, Timothy Mink.
Hope received her undergraduate degree in Biblical Studies at Multnomah University in Portland, OR. She was active in the campus music ministry, where she led two women’s ensembles, traveling throughout the Pacific Northwest, sharing Christ, and representing the university. At graduation she received awards for her Christian character, as well as her music leadership ability.
Hope received her master’s degree in Biblical Studies at Dallas Theological Seminary, where she worked as secretary in the Alumni Office. She enjoyed the responsibility of being a stay-at-home Mom, until the youngest of her six sons began elementary school. She then became an honored teacher in private schools in Waxahachie and Ovilla, Texas. Her expertise was in the two subjects she loved, Biblical studies and art.
Moving to Forest, Virginia with her husband, her gifts in administration and counseling were immediately put to work. For eight years she worked in Student Affairs, serving as Dean of Women at Liberty University. Starting with just one associate dean and an office manager, the department grew to five associate deans, two office managers, and a dozen student workers, who ministered to over 11,000 residential students.
Hope is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Dr. Timothy Mink; six sons, Jeremy (Nicole) Mink; Justin (Shauna, Ellie and Eila) Mink, Jared (Joana) Mink, Joshua Mink, Jordan Mink, and Jedidiah Mink. Hope is also survived by many loving family members and friends, who can say with her husband and sons, “we thank God upon every remembrance of you.”
