Imogene Cobbs

Imogene Holle (Jean) Cobbs of Mineola, TX. passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, September 19, 2014. She was born in Lott, Texas, on August 4, 1934. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, John Thomas Cobbs, her sons Steve Cobbs, Jim Ed Cobbs (Amy), and Tom Cobbs (Rese), granddaughters Stephanie, Elisabeth, Olivia and Sevene, and sisters Betty Beauchamp and Bobbie Saltzman.

She is preceded in death by her son Tony, her brothers Billy, Donald and A.W., and parents A.W. and Eddie Holle.

A devoted member of the First United Methodist Church of Mineola, Jean loved our Lord Jesus Christ. Her joy was spending time with her family more than anything, especially if it involved travel. She was a fixture at Mineola Schools from 1972 to 1995, working as a teachers aid, librarian, and administrative assistant. She was blessed to work with many good friends during this tenure. She often enjoyed having friends to the house to play cards and hosted family gatherings regularly over the years. Her competitive spirit in family games was second to none.

Raising four boys in Mineola, she supported many sports and music activities.

Jean was probably most known for her bright smile and infectious laughter. Her sorority sisters from Beta Sigma Phi and fellow members of Eastern Star could certainly attest to that.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be contributed to the Tony Cobbs College Scholarship Fund, which was established in 1982 to honor her son Tony. This is an ongoing award for graduates of Mineola High School. Funds can be sent to City National Bank, 200 N. Pacific St., Mineola, TX. 75773.
