Ivie Allene Graves

Ivie Allene Graves was our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend to many who will greatly miss her presence. Allene Graves passed away on May 4, 2010. She was born June 29, 1925 to Grady Aulton Tibbs and Olyce Allene Kirbo Tibbs in the same house where her father was born in Scroggins, Texas.

After the sudden loss of her husband in 1972, Preston Luther Graves, she pursued her career in nursing. Allene went back to school to become a licensed nurse. She was a nurse for 35 years demonstrating her gift of service to many thankful patients. Allene devoted herself not only to nursing but to her family as well. She was always there however the need presented itself. Allene's gift of service even extended toward volunteerism with the Red Cross. She volunteered to drive elderly patients to doctors or hospitals when they could not help themselves. Even as a retired nurse, Allene was involved in home health care for Alzheimer's patients. She enjoyed being a lifetime member of the Eastern Stars and relaxing with her hobbies of painting, quilting and all kinds of sewing. Her heart was big and her love was great.

Allene is survived by her brother, Joe Grady Tibbs and wife, Roselyn, her three children: daughter, Cathey Doigg and husband Stan of Rockwall, daughter Deborah Jo Cain and husband, Allen of Amarillo, and son. Lane Graves of Mesquite. She has 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 2 nieces and 7 nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Preston Luther Graves, niece Sharon Hisey and nephew Billy Hobbs.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 6, 2010 from 6 to 8 PM at Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro, Texas. A service

celebrating Allene's life will be held on Friday, May 7, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Clearwater Baptist Church and she

will be laid to rest next to her loving husband at Bethel Cemetery.
