Services for J D Jones, 89 of Winnsboro will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Beaty Funeral Home Chapel with Richard "Nub" Brown and Jim Barrett officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday evening 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Interment follows at Lee Cemetery in Wood County. Mr. Jones died on November 29, 2010 at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler, Texas after a long illness.

He was born February 18, 1921, in Winnsboro, Texas to Berry Gardner and Georgia Bee Martin Jones. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn, son John, brothers Bill Jones and wife Betty, and Ray Dan Jones, sisters Charline Sorrels, Iwanez Trout, nephews Mike Trout and wife, Carol, Pat Trout and wife, Donna, Al Sorrels and wife Leslie, Ray Jones and Joey Jones, nieces Joan Sorrels and Sandy Herman.

Mr. Jones was a graduate of Winnsboro High School, the co-owner of the Winnsboro Livestock Commission Company for over 30 years. He served in the Army Air Corp during WWII, was a cattle rancher for 70 years and a dedicated member of the Winnsboro American Legion Post 140.

The family requests memorials in lieu of flowers be made to Hospice of East Texas and Gilbreath Memorial Library. Pallbearers will be Mike Trout, Pat Trout, Al Sorrels, Will Harrison, Tim Pollard and Landon Crow . Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Johnson, Randy Mitchell, Shannon Davis, Ben Anderson, David Pollard, Nick Pollard, and Benny Moore.
