James Robert Beard

Mr. James R. "Bob" Beard, of Winnsboro, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2006, in Winnsboro, he was 88 years old. Bob was born on September 19, 1918 to the late Bena C. and Eva Lee Boyd Beard in Wood County. He served in the Air Force during World War II; where he was sent to Trinidad and Guam. He is a graduate of WHS, a member of FUMC of Winnsboro, and retired from the Cain Bank in Winnsboro. He married the former Lillian May Brown on April 17, 1948 in Winnsboro. He loved to fish, enjoyed gardening and reading, and was a skilled woodworker. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Kate Howell. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lillian Beard of Winnsboro; son, James Robert Beard Jr. and wife Lynn of Bryan, Tx.; three daughters, Cynthia Henson and husband James of Winnsboro, Mary Lee Beard of Sulphur Springs, Sue Reid and husband Rusty of Winnsboro; four brothers, Rex Beard of Hallsville, Ray Beard of Longview, Charles Beard of Winnsboro, Don Beard of Hallsville; three grandchildren, Damon DeLucia and wife Kendra of Houston, Stacie Thompson and husband Scott of Mt. Pleasant, Darren Henson of Austin; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
