James Ivison Cash

May 3, 1927 — June 27, 2024

James Ivison Cash, born May 3, 1927, in Forney, Texas, to Walter Lewis and Mary Etta Cash, passed away peacefully. He lived a life marked by dedication, hard work, and faith.

Growing up in Forney, James developed a strong sense of duty and patriotism, leading him to join the Navy during World War II. After the war, he married the love of his life, Dorothy Morgan, on December 24, 1945. Together, they built a loving family, raising three children: Carolyn Edwards, Helen Ussery, and Janet Lohr.

James was a skilled carpenter who took great pride in his work. He found solace in woodworking, particularly in crafting beautiful, handmade walking canes. His craftsmanship was a testament to his patience and attention to detail.

A devout believer, James was deeply involved at his Baptist Church in Dallas where he served as a deacon and taught Sunday school. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him in all his endeavors. Mr. Cash during his life in the Scroggins community attended Central Christian Church in Winnsboro. James was also a long-time member of the Masonic Lodge, embodying the values of brotherhood and charity.

James is survived by his children: Carolyn Edwards and her husband Efton, Helen Ussery and her husband Cliff, and Janet Lohr; his grandchildren: Ryan Ussery and wife Melanthea, Jayme Fox and husband Isreal, Jennifer Wewee and husband Marc, Ginny Easthouse and husband Jerome; and his great-grandchildren: Mellie Ussery, Katarina Ussery, Carissa Ussery, Lilianna Ussery, Carleigh Fox, Cash Fox, Lilah Easthouse, Madden Easthouse, and Leighton Easthouse. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy Cash; his parents, Walter and Mary Cash; brothers Charlie D. Cash, Amos Cash, Lewis Cash, Billy Cash; his son-in-law, Greg Lohr; his grandchildren, Lydia Edwards and Karen Edwards.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Central Christian Church in James's honor.

James Ivison Cash will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his dedication to his family, and his exceptional craftsmanship. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
