James Arnold Clamon

Retired Lt. Col. James Arnold Clamon, age 81, of Mineola, TX, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 30, 2021 in Quitman, TX. He was born on June 25, 1940 in Livingston, Texas to the late Fred D. Clamon and Lillie Mae Herrington Clamon.

James was a retired pilot for the U.S. Air Force and a member of Mineola First Assembly of God. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ben Clamon. He is survived by his loving wife, Nina McDougle Clamon of Mineola; son, J. Arnold Clamon and wife, Elizabeth Ann of Goldsboro, NC; daughters, Nina Watson and husband, John of Homer, LA, Marci Young and husband, Charles of Ft. Worth, and Donya Knapp of Akron, Ohio; brothers, Jerry Clamon and wife, Sondra of Baytown and Tom Clamon of Baytown; sisters, Judy Fisher and husband, Lonnie of Baytown and Shirley Starr of Rifle, Colorado; sister-in-law, Cindy Clamon of Livingston; fourteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 2, 2021 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Mineola First Assembly of God, 1917 N US Highway 69, Mineola, TX 75773. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Mineola First Assembly of God at 10:00 am, Rev. David Logan conducting. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Mineola, with John Slocum, Timothy Yates, Joshua Clamon, Aaron Yates, Caleb Slocum, Benjamin Yates, Josiah Knapp, Noah Knapp, and Zachariah Knapp serving as pallbearers.
James, otherwise known as Jim, Papaw, or Bo, lived to serve his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and lived devotedly to his wife Nina of 60 years. He loved the Lord God with his whole heart and loved his family just as deeply. Through his many years of travel, he developed a wide network of friends whom he loved dearly as well. We know that he was welcomed into his Savior’s arms with the words “Well done good and faithful servant.”
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Gideons International in memory of James Arnold Clamon.
