James Hart

Master Sergeant (M Sgt) James Hart Jr., Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient service number RA38687287 was born in Hopkins, Texas on 8 April 1925, to the late James Hart and Devona French Hart. During the Korean War, M Sgt HART served in C Company, 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment (1/32 INF),7th Infantry Division (7th ID). Master Sergeant HART’s unit initially reported him missing in action (MIA) on 2 December 1950 in the vicinity of the Chosin Reservoir, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (D.P.R.K.). Absent evidence of continued survival, the U.S. Army issued a presumptive finding of death on 31 December 1953. Today, he is memorialized in the Courts of the Missing at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (NMCP, also known as the “Punchbowl”) in Honolulu, Hawaii. Master Sergeant Hart served with honor beginning in 1944 during World War II. Known as Jimmy to many, he was a member of the Winterfield Methodist Church before going off to war. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Billy and A.B. Hart. Jimmy is survived by nieces, Virginia Patterson and Deanne Griffith; great-nephews Justin and Jim; great-nieces Keisha and Jamie; sister-in-law Louise Hart. Master Sgt. Hart will be flown into DFW National Airport to be taken back to Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro, Texas. Visitation with award presentations to his surviving family will occur from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, June 7th in the chapel of Beaty Funeral Home. Funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 8th at the funeral home, Bro. Tom Friday officiating. Full Military Honors will follow at Winterfield Cemetery in Hopkins County.
