Janet Wilcox Hunter, a lifelong resident of East Texas, passed away peacefully at her home in Tyler on July 21, 2025, at the age of 74. She was born on April 13, 1951, in Winnsboro, Texas, to Ebenezer Cline Wilcox and Kelly June Rogers Wilcox.
Janet graduated from Winnsboro High School with the class of 1969. After taking some college courses, she embarked on a successful career in the insurance business, dedicating over 30 years as a property rater for Liberty Mutual.
A devout member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Tyler, Janet was an active and cherished member of the ACTS Sisters group, enthusiastically participating in their many charity events. She had a variety of passions, including needlepoint, cross-stitching, and photography, and was also an avid collector. Janet especially enjoyed listening to her brothers, David and Joseph Lindley, perform live music.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Ebenezer Cline Wilcox and Kelly June Rogers Wilcox.
She is survived by her son, Camron Wilcox and his wife, Ida Wilcox; her brothers, David and Joseph Lindley; her grandchildren, Donovan Wilcox and his wife Maci, Tiphani Ton and her husband John, Khonnor Wilcox, and Destani Pugh and her husband Quinton; and her great-grandchildren, Madeline Ton, Kassadee Pugh, and Emerald Pugh. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Janet's gentle spirit, creative talents, and loving heart will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and church community.
