Janis K Yates

Janis Kay Yates of Mineola, Texas took Jesus’ hand and led her into eternity on December 15, 2023. Janis was born in Marshall, Texas on January 30th, 1947 to Joyce Chase Smith and James V. Smith. She met the love of her life, Michael Roy Yates, at the age of 17 and six months later she would marry him on September 5th 1964. She took on the roll of being a military wife serious and was always willing to follow her soldier where ever his orders took them, which included Louisiana, Maryland, Japan, and Oklahoma before returning home to Texas in 1986. Janis loved her family and they adored her. She was an amazing mother to her two children and was blessed to have four grand children who all have special memories of their Nanny. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her Husband of 59 years, Michael Yates, Son

- James “Bo” Yates and his wife Suzanne, Daughter - Jennifer Nugent and her Husband Jason all of Mineola, Four Grandchildren; Kora Harvey, Michael Nugent, Carlie Nugent, and Tishey Hardin. Brother; Terry Smith, and Sisters; Tammy Murphy, Mary Beth Schulze, and Kimberly Stark. She was presided in death by her parents, grand parents and Sister Karla Little.
