Jay Allen Woody, 81, of Mineola, TX went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 29, 2023 in Tyler, TX with his family by his side.
Jay was born on April 16, 1941 in Vernon, TX to the late RJ and Biddie Mae Woody. Jay enjoyed old westerns, fishing, family time, card games with friends and loved his Church family.
Jay was born in Vernon, Tx and graduated Perryton High School in Perryton, TX. Jay and Beverly raised their family in Carrollton, Tx. and were members of Denton Drive Church of Christ before moving to Mineola.
Jay married the love of his life, Beverly and they were married for 63 wonderful years. He worked for Tasty Bread for 7 years as supervisor in sales. Jay went on to work at Frito Lay being dedicated and committed for 34 years where he retired in 2003. Jay and Beverly moved to Mineola in 2003 and enjoyed many strong friendships, camping trips and card games with dear friends. Jay and Beverly found their Church home at Mineola Church of Christ, where Jay was a song leader, directed World Bible School and was the Church Treasurer.
Jay is survived by his loving wife Beverly; son, Randy and wife Nicole Woody of Brookesmith, TX; daughter, Denise and husband Mark Metzger of Corinth, TX; grandson, Garrett Metzger of Pilot Point and granddaughter, Sarah Sutterfield of South Carolina and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Jay is proceeded in death by his brother, Wayne Woody and sisters Charlene Robbins, Mary Lou Berry, Ruth Henry and Shirley Woody.
In the last few years Jay battled major health issues that challenged his body. Jay never let these obstacles change his sense of humor, tender heart and fun loving spirit.
