J.D. Corbitt

Mr. J.D. Corbitt, age 91 of Winnsboro, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2009. He was born in Wood County on February 7, 1918 to the late John D. and Leona Crow Corbitt. He served in the United States Navy from 1940 until 1952, and married Christine Waters on April 21, 1950 in Texarkana, Ark. He later retired as an animal control officer from the City of Dallas. He worked eleven more years for the City of Winnsboro in Animal Control, and was a member of Pine Street Baptist Church, and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by sons, Timothy and Eddie Corbitt; sisters, Lois Alexander, Mary Pearl Cook, and Lucille Sansom. He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Christine Corbitt of Winnsboro; daughter, Cindy Vest and husband Joe of Scroggins; son, Danny Corbitt and wife Peggy of Grand Prairie; brother, Bob Corbitt of Winnsboro; sister, Faye Hallman of Winnsboro; grandchildren, Leslie McKee of Scroggins, Gary Corbitt of Ft. Hood, Christopher Corbitt of Ft. Worth. Arrangements are being handled by BEATY FUNERAL HOME where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, June 12, 2009. Funeral service will be at Beaty Funeral Home at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 13, 2009, Bro. Richard "Nub" Brown officiating. Interment will be at Lee Cemetery, Winnsboro, TX
