Jean Gibbs Williams, age 84, died Wednesday, June 12, 2013 in Mineola, Texas. She was born on Saturday, March 30, 1929 in Burk Burnett, Texas to the late Newton and Nora Gibbs. She was the co-owner of Williams Oil Company and a member of Mineola Church of Christ. She was a charter member of the Pilot’s Club in Mineola, a member of the Women’s Bowling Association and very active in Meals on Wheels. She served in the United States Marines during the Korean War.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Williams; a daughter, Kelly Williams, and a brother, Malcom Gibbs.
She is survived by a son, Sam Williams and wife Samantha of Grapevine, Texas; a daughter, Kendra Harris of Mineola; a brother, Marion Gibbs and wife Jenny of San Angelo, Texas; three grandchildren, Jessika Williams, Ken Beck, Chris Beck and wife Tiffani; and four great-grandchildren, Chrislynn Beck, Ryleigh Beck, Birdie Beck and Jaxon Beck.
Visitation for Ms. Williams will be held at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola on Friday, June 14, 2013 from 6 – 8 PM.
Funeral services will be held at Broad Street Church of Christ on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 3:00 PM with Mr. Wayne Williams officiating.
Interment will follow at Cedars Memorial Gardens in Mineola.
The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Leukemia Foundation.
