Jeri Kathleen Spence

March 24, 1949 — March 11, 2023

With peace on her face and a dignity in her spirit, Kathy Spence closed her eyes and was welcomed into the waiting arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 11, 2023. Kathy was born on March 24, 1949, in Mt. Vernon, Texas, to LC and Oneda "Jerri" (Tutor) Jones. She was a much-loved woman who gave that love back ten times to those who knew her. Mrs. Spence graduated from Winnsboro High School in 1967. She was a bookkeeper most of her life and worked for Lee Industries in Sulphur Springs, Pilgrims Feed Store in Pittsburg, and for a number of years worked for Larry Strube. Kathy and her late husband Donald owned and operated for a time a cafe in the Shady Grove community. She was always on the lookout for a good deal at garage sales, relishing the beauty of being outdoors, and meeting a family member for lunch during her lunch break from work. Kathy would travel with Donald throughout many places when he was on a job site and the two of them cherished that time together. She was a devoted wife, cherished mom, and loving grandmother who will be deeply missed. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents LC and Oneda "Jerri" Jones and husband Donald in 2020. She is survived by her sons Jason Darby and wife Janelle, Robert Spence and wife Suzanne, Billy Don Spence; daughters Tina Meredith and husband Michael, Lisa Pedlar, and Donna Santillan and husband Joel; brother Dale Jones and wife Julie; sisters Ann Johnson and Tammy Winthrop and husband Larry; grandchildren Cheyenne Williams, Katie Williams, Miranda Keen and husband Hunter, Lacy Patton and husband Casey, Allison Spence, Spencer Darby, and Lander Darby; numerous great-grandchildren. A service to celebrate her beautiful life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 17th, at Pineview Baptist Church, with Bro. Ronny Spence officiating. Burial will follow in the Pineview Cemetery where she will be placed beside Donald. "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God." Matthew 5:8
