Jerome David Sondrall, 80 of Quitman, went to be with The Lord Friday, January 7, 2022. He was the second son born to the late Alvin L Sondrall and Marcella Schreiber Sondrall on April 24,1941, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
After graduating from High School he married his high school sweetheart, Vera Olsen and set his sails and joined the Navy. For the next 22 years he rose in the ranks and retired as Senior Chief Petty Officer. He serviced his country in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Olathe, Kansas, Grand Prairie, Texas and Andrew’s Joint Airbase in Washington DC.
In 1978 just shortly before he retired from the Navy he moved the family to Quitman, Texas and started a whole new career first becoming an EMT and driving an ambulance for then Quitman Hospital, he was the parts manager for Wyndham Chevrolet in Quitman, and finally served the good people in Quitman at the Wood County Farmers Cooperative where he secured a second retirement. In his off time he loved to golf and spent many happy years with his best golf partner and bride of 53 years Vera, enjoying and perusing the perfection of this past time.
He was a member of Gilmer Country Club for over twenty years and recently a member of Church On The Rock where he started attending regularly with his wife Crystal.
Dave (as he preferred to be called) was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Vera of 53 years and most recently a brother, Rollie Sondrall of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He is survived by his wife Crystal of 4 years; Daughter Tracy and Son In Law David Jackson of Quitman; Three Grandchildren: Joshua Jackson of Quitman; Stephen and his wife Delilah Jackson of Como; and Kathryn Jackson of Addison; Two Great-grandsons: Lawrence and Logan Jackson of Sulphur Springs; 2 Brothers and their wives: Larry & Loretta Sondrall of Winnsboro, and Steven & Linda Sondrall of Florida and many others who knew and loved him.
