Jerry Cloud

Jerry Cloud went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday morning, September 5, 2019. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held 11:00 am, Monday, September 9, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church of Mineola with Rev. Reggie Day officiating. Private Masonic graveside services will be at the Tatum Cemetery in Tatum, Texas under the direction of Beaty Funeral Home of Mineola. Jerry was born March 3, 1938 in Fort Worth, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Cecil Cloud. He married Mary Goad on Dec. 26, 1965 and she preceded him in death in 2012. Jerry was raised in an oil field camp, had country principles, strong family values and service to others. He graduated from New London High School in 1956. He attended Allen Military Academy, Kilgore College, Stephen F. Austin University, and later received his principals certificate from East Texas State, now Texas A&M Commerce. He spent 36 years in education, of this 6 years in Luling, Texas and 30 years in Mineola, Texas, 15 years of the 30 years as Junior High School Principal. He touched the life of many a young person, retiring in 1997. He was a longtime Mason, belonging to the Clinton Lodge #23 in Henderson, Texas. He later became a Scottish Rite Mason, belonging to the Waco Chapter. Jerry was much involved in the community, organizations, and boards to which he dedicated his time and expertise, these include president of the Mineola Optimist Club, City Council, member of the Kiwanis Club serving as vice president and president, receiving the prestigious Hixon award for his dedicated service, Mineola Civic Center board, serving as secretary and president, served on the Mineola School's Advisory board, presented a program on the New London School Explosion and East Texas Oil Fields to the Civic Center and students of Mineola Middle and High Schools, served on the Upper Sabine Valley Waste Water Management board, was an active worker with Mineola's Caring and Sharing Programs, volunteer for Meal's on Wheels, member of the Wood County Retired Teacher's Association serving as president and treasurer, a Red Cross Volunteer and received the Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year in 2005. Jerry lived his life with courage, wisdom,and integrity and will be remembered by all as a true leader, loving husband, father, grandfather and an incredible friend. He always put his faith in God first, He loved being with family and extended family members, classmates from New London. He will be remembered by what he taught and how he lived. Jerry was a active member of the First United Methodist Church of Mineola, Texas. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or to a charity of choice. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Robin Cloud of Mineola and grandson, Jace Michael Cloud also of Mineola. Visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday, September, 8, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Beaty Funeral Home of Mineola. II Timothy 4: 7-8
