Jerry Len Sparks

December 2, 1943 — November 30, 2024

Jerry Len Sparks, Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was born on December 2, 1943, in the Clearwater community of Franklin County. He peacefully entered eternal rest in Heaven on November 30, 2024, at the age of 80. Jerry was the son of the late Bill Sparks and Margie Kenner Sparks and was preceded in death by his brother, Butch Sparks.

He was a lifelong resident of the Franklin and Hopkins County areas. Jerry was a proud graduate of Mt. Vernon High

School. He was a dedicated member of New Hope Baptist Church, where he found both community and comfort. Jerry's faith, family, and work ethic defined him, and he spent his life giving to others in both his professional and personal life.

Jerry married the love of his life, Virginia Ruth Alsobrook, on August 7, 1992, and they spent 32 wonderful years together. His devotion to his family and his wife was evident in every aspect of his life, and he cherished the time they shared. Jerry retired after a 35-year career as the transportation manager for Pilgrim's Pride in Mt. Pleasant, a role where his hard work and dedication were deeply appreciated by all who knew him.

Outside of work, Jerry enjoyed tending to his farm, where he took great pride in caring for his cows. His love for the land and animals was a testament to his deep connection with the natural world.

Jerry leaves behind his wife, Virginia Sparks; son, Len Sparks and his wife, Margaret; daughter, Melinda Roach and her husband, Joe; brothers, Sid Sparks and his wife, Kathy, and Lewis Sparks and his wife, Debbie; sisters, Jan Newsome and her husband, Roy, Mary Catherine Rogers, and Mozella Parr and her husband, Matthew. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Colby Strain, Braxston Cole, Joey May, Brian Johnson, Danny Johnson, McKenzie Moody, and Heather Garvin; along with 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and extended family members.

Jerry was a man of integrity, humility, and kindness, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, faith, and service to others will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
