Jimmy Jefferson Rodgers, age 78, died Saturday, March 10, 2012 in Tyler, Texas. He was born on Tuesday, November 8, 1933 in Old London, Texas to the James David and Minnie Pearl Rodgers. He coached and taught at Hawkins ISD from 1963 - 1977. He had a Masters degree in Math from North Texas and a BA from Steven F. Austin University.
He is preceded in death by his father, James David Rodgers; his mother, Minnie Pearl Baker; step-father, L. C. Baker; a daughter, Tina Lynn Rodgers; a sister, Mary Frances Rodgers; and a great-grandson, Dustan Jefferson Bell.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Marie Rodgers of Hawkins, Texas; two sons, James David Rodgers of Hawkins and Doyle Wayne Rodgers and wife Donna of Longview, Texas; a daughter, Tracy Lee Litchenburg of Longview; three brothers, Dale Baker of Spring, Texas, Gene Baker and Tommy Baker of Lindale, Texas; thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Beaty Funeral Home in Hawkins with Mr. Wiley Vonner officiating.
The family requests that memorials in lieu of flowers be made to St.Judes Children's Hospital, or the March of Dimes Pediatrics.
