Jo Ann Irby Romine, a beloved grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2024, and now suffers no more. She was born on July 4, 1947, in the Pickton community of Hopkins County, to the late Travis and Naomi Wilson Irby. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George Edward Romine; her son, Steven Harrell; her great-grandson, Brody Grant; and two brothers, Durwood Irby and Jerry Irby.
A graduate of Winnsboro High School, Jo Ann was a faithful member of both Walnut Street Baptist Church and Lake Fork Baptist Church in her earlier years. Known for her kindness, joy, and unwavering love, she was a lady who brought light into the lives of everyone who knew her.
Jo Ann cherished time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always finding joy in their laughter and presence. She and George shared many fond memories of camping and exploring the beauty of nature together. She was a devoted homemaker who took immense pride in her yard, carefully tending to her flower beds and the lush green grass she so lovingly maintained. She also found peace in watching hummingbirds flock to her many feeders and shared a special bond with her four-legged companion, Missie.
Jo Ann is survived by her grandchildren, Justin Harrell, Tyler Harrell, and Ciara Grant and husband Dylan Grant, great-grandchildren, Katie Harrell, Sophia Harrell, Bristol Harrell, Hagen Grant; and her best friend of 70 years and sister by choice Glenda Amason. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
A life well-lived, Jo Ann will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her compassion, her unwavering love for her family, and her gentle spirit.
