Jo Anne "Nona" Heimgartner, born on February 3, 1953, in Gainesville, Texas, peacefully passed away on March 13, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of Kenneth (Blackie) Welch and Rebecca (Becky) Welch.
Jo grew up in Gainesville and Sherman, Texas, and graduated from Sherman High School. She embarked on a fulfilling career, retiring from EDS. Later, she and her husband, John Heimgartner, ventured into entrepreneurship, owning Fisherman’s One Stop and Bro’s Patio in Yantis, Texas.
Outside of work, Jo indulged in her passions and hobbies. She had a green thumb and found joy in playing in the dirt, planting flowers, and nurturing plants. Traveling was another love of hers, especially when accompanied by her beloved husband, John. She cherished spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren, and could often be found shopping with them.
On December 14, 1994, Jo married the love of her life, John Heimgartner. Together, they shared many precious memories until John's passing in March of the previous year.
Jo was known for her humor and wit. When asked about her profession, she'd humorously refer to herself as a "professional minnow dipper," bringing laughter to those around her.
She is survived by her daughter, Joey Doyle, and son-in-law, Theron Telford, as well as her stepdaughter, Cathy Leigh Dunphy, and son-in-law, Del Dunphy. Jo leaves behind a legacy through her grandchildren: Brandon, Samantha, Tori, Ryan, Travis, and her great-grandchildren: Aiden, Tanner, Bailey, and Maverick.
Jo Anne Heimgartner will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, unwavering love for her family, and her ability to bring joy to everyone she encountered. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
