Obituary for Joan Roberta Collins

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our Mother, Joan Roberta Collins, age 82, on May 28, 2026. Born on April 12, 1944, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Joan was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and cherished friend.

Joan lived a life marked by her unwavering dedication to family. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, often seen tending to her beloved garden, walking her dog or watching the serene lake from her back porch. A self-employed co-owner of MICO Industrial Corporation, Joan approached all her endeavors with a strong work ethic and passion. Her avid love of sports was undeniable when she was watching and cheering for any of the grand and great-grandchildren who were playing softball and baseball.

Joan leaves behind her husband of 63 years Michael Collins of Plano. Her memory will always be cherished by her children; daughter, Joan Michele Bradshaw and husband Clifton and her son, Patrick Collins and wife Billie. She was a proud grandmother to Kathleen Lindsey (Ty), Courtney Lujan (Max), Cameron Collins (Ashley), Schieler Collins, Emily Collins, Kyle
Sproul (Summer), and Bryce Sproul, and a treasured great-grandmother to Cadence Joan, Ryder, Rhett, Riley, Emersyn, and Kathryn. Joan also enjoyed her "favorite" Auntie status to numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Joan's boundless love for her family extended to her loyal dog, Tricky Ricky, who brought her great joy and companionship.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents John and Louise Smith; brothers, Bob Smith, John Smith, Henry Smith, Donald Smith, and sister, Louise Mackintosh.

I remember thee in this solemn hour, my dear Mother.

I remember the days when thou didst dwell on earth and thy tender love watched over me like a guardian angel.

Thou hast gone from me, but the bond which unites our souls can never be severed; thine image lives within my heart.

May the merciful Father reward thee for faithfulness and kindness thou hast ever shown me; may he lift up the light of his countenance upon thee and grant thee eternal peace. Amen

A woman of faith, Joan was a longtime member of the Baptist community, finding comfort and solace through her spiritual beliefs and her knowledge that, one day, we will be reunited again. Her warmth and kindness will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Each friend or stranger who experienced the light that shone from her infectious laugh and smile will forever remember the "Lady of the Lake".

In honor of her life and the legacy she leaves behind, a celebration of her life will take place at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola at a date to be announced soon.

The family invites all who knew and loved Joan to join in celebrating her life, reminiscing about the cherished moments shared, and honoring the beautiful spirit she brought to this world.

Joan Roberta Collins will forever be remembered for her grace, compassion, and the love she imparted to all those fortunate enough to be a part of her life.
