Joanne Russell Williams (Joanne), 83, died peacefully at Trinity Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler, Texas on August 4, 2014. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, August 8, at 2:00 pm at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 7 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Beaty Funeral Home.
Joanne was born on July 27, 1931 in Grand Saline, Texas to the late Herman Farris Russell and the late Effie Monk Russell. Joanne graduated from Grand Saline High School and attended Business College in Tyler, TX. Joanne was a homemaker for many years before she began her career in the land title business at Wood County Title.
Joanne served the Mineola community in many areas including the Mineola Lions Club and several committee positions with the city of Mineola. Joanne was named Mineola Women of the Year in 1991.
Joanne was a dedicated servant of God and spent her entire life involved in Christian music and church activities. Joanne was a talented pianist and provided the music at many churches and many funerals over the years. Joanne attended the First Church of the Nazarene for many years. Joanne’s life was a testament to putting God first. She never missed the opportunity to proclaim God’s wonderful gift to mankind.
Joanne is survived by her two sons, Joe and wife Chris, and Marty and wife Nannette. In addition, she is survived by five grandchildren, Jason Williams, Ryan Williams, Kacie Williams, Maria Williams, and Stephanie Williams; seven great grandchildren, Mackenzie Grantham, Madison Williams, Maecy Williams, Kase Williams, Kamryn Williams, Koley Williams, and Caden Haugen, and one great – great grandson, Cannon Goforth. Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond L. Williams, her father, Herman Farris Russell and her mother, Effie Monk Russell.
