Joe Mack Sayles

Joe Mack Sayles, MSGT, U.S. Air Force (Ret.), of Winnsboro, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025, at the age of 78.

Joe was born on November 8, 1946, in Winnsboro, Texas, to Henry Earl Sayles and Aline Thurmond Sayles. He was raised in Winnsboro, and attended W.B. Clark High School. Following his graduation, Joe answered the call to serve his country and began a distinguished 25-year career in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1991. Joe was also an active member of the Wood County Military Veterans Administration.

Joe was a proud and devoted member of Tranquil Baptist Church in Winnsboro. He served as Deacon where his faith was a constant source of strength throughout his life. He was known for his quiet wisdom, steady presence, and deep love for his family.

Joe is survived by his former spouse Odessa Slayton; daughter, Tabitha Sayles; his son, Steven Sayles and wife Santhipia Sayles; sisters, Manina Mathis and Patricia White-Craig and husband Kenneth Craig; grandchildren, Steven Sayles II, Tierany Coleman, Maliya Nixon, and Zoe Sayles. Joe was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Henry Earl and Aline Sayles; his brothers, John Sayles and Jerry Sayles; and his sister, Pamela Grant.

Joe Mack Sayles will be remembered for his service, strength, and the legacy of love he leaves behind.
