John W. Day

John W. Day, age 86, died Friday, September 7, 2012 in Edmond, Oklahoma. He was born on Friday, April 16, 1926 in Palestine, Texas to the late Oscar and Etta Mae Day. He was a member of the Mineola VFW and the recipient of 4 purple hearts. He was a POW during the Korean War for 33 months and was in the Infantry in the United States Army where he was known as "Tough Little John".

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bonnie Ferguson Day; two brothers, Marshall Day and J. C. Day; and a sister, Opal Lynch.

He is survived by two sons, John Paul Day and wife Deann of Tulsa, Oklahoma and James Lee Day of Longview, Texas; two daughters, Karen Seikel and husband Steve of Edmond, Oklahoma and Janice McElroy of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; three sisters, Bertie Massengel of Little Rock, Arkansas, Faye London and Ruthie Mae London both of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; and eight grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Mineola on Friday, September 14, 2012 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Charles Long officiating.
