John Eakin

August 31, 1933 — November 24, 2019

Mr. John Helm Eakin of Holly Lake Ranch went home to his heavenly father on Sunday November 24, 2019 in Tyler, Tx. Mr. Eakin was born to the late Thomas Scott Eakin and Mary Naylor Eakin Thursday August 31, 1933. Mr. Eakin has lived in Wood County since retiring from the Dallas Independent School District in 1982. He taught and coached in Dallas for his entire career and was loved and admired by his students and players who would from time to time come and visit him at Holly Lake Ranch. John was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend Roberta Eakin (Bowers). His daughter Beth Cook and husband Gerald; one grandson John Waldron Cook; one grand daughter Allyson Cook; one nephew Edward Eakin and one special niece Kimberly Wegener and husband Alan of Tyler. Mr. Eakin will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. He was a very caring man who would bend over backward to help anyone in need. Funeral services are set for Saturday November 30, 2019 at 11:00 AM. Services are under the directions of Beaty Funeral Home-Mineola.
